Wireless Communications
DIGITAL CELLULAR NETWORK SYSTEM — Implemented a digital
cellular network system, which included multiple subscriber units
(IS54 protocol), base transceiver systems, base station controllers,
and a network monitoring and control system. The software was developed
in C under a UNIX/VxWorks platform, using the ClearCase configuration
management tool.
VOICE ACTIVATED DIALING SERVICE — Developed a prototype
system to provide a voice activated dialing service for a major
mobile telephone customer.
MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS FIRMWARE — Developed all firmware
for a mobile communications device to be used on the INMARSAT satellite
network, including the design, implementation, and test of the keyboard
interface and memory management system.
VOICE COMMAND AND CTI PRODUCTS TESTING — Testing of SS7
Signaling enhancements, Wireless Local Number Portability and Voice
XML Browser feature additions to Voice Command and CTI products.
Assessed conformance of product to VoIP industry standards, including
H.323, RTP/RTCP, MGCP, MEGACO, SIP/SDP and RSVP.
MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM TESTING — Wrote software test
plans for the Screen Designer and Mobile Terminal Communications Engine
for a mobile communications system.
RF TEST PROGRAMS — Designed and implemented test fixture
control software for the RFM board functional testing on a mobile
communications satellite project. The test software development effort
involved defining and implementing RF test programs to verify that the
RFM board was meeting its functional specifications. Some of the tests
implemented were PLO alarm detection, temperature, transmit and receive
frequency sweep, transmit and receive gain control, transmit phase noise,
spurious emissions, carrier on/off power, and transmit isolation.
WIRELESS REMOTE TESTING — Designed a conceptual model
for wireless remote testing and management of next-generation
telecommunications networks. The concept promises to advance the
benefits of remote network management and service assurance from
the service provider’s operations centers into almost any wireless-accessible point,
for any security-enabled employee, customer, or partner. The concept
allows the provider to further accelerate service activation and
verification, isolation and resolution of service outages or degradation,
reduce time to revenue return, and improve customer responsiveness.
